The Cookie Cutter I use is roughly 7 centimeters,

which will result in a a shape of about 4.5 centimeters.

Fill your cookie cutter with wool until it slightly overspills the shape, but when you put your hand on top of it, you still will be able to push it down.

Make sure the wool is evenly divided in the Cookie Cutter

This is roughly what I use in a

7 centimeter cookie cutter

Now the FUN part starts . . .

Get your needle and start stabbing the wool

Over and Over and Over and Over

Occasionally turning it to stab the back as well.

By stabbing the wool fibers will start to bind together and will form a solid mass.

Make sure that you do NOT hit the cookie cutter with your needle

The needles can break very easily.

The point is extremely sharp

and especially in the beginning

you might loose several needles

in a very VERY

short time period.

And . . . .  Watch your FINGERS!!

Once your wool is starting to get solid, take it out of your cookie cutter and start stabbing the sides as well.

Remember the stabbing will define the shape.

Use your needle as shaping tool.

Mmmm . . . . .  Did I mention to watch your fingers?!

If everything did go according to plan, you should now be holding something that very much resembles your choosen shape.

Now is the perfect time to add a second color or just continue shaping your item.

WATCH YOUR FINGERS

You can use a finer needle for more detailed work.

If you are like me you probably have stabbed yourself several times by now . . . . ;-)

Don’t worry, in time you will get better at it and you will break less needles and hardly will stab yourself anymore.

At one point this work

will draw blood, no matter how careful you are!

The trick is to stick to it and

Learn where your fingers are in relation to the needle.

I now am able to have conversations, watch television all while needle felting because I learned the hard way to keep my fingers away from the needle!

Practise makes Perfect!!

Experiment with colors and shapes.

This never gets boring because each project can be done with

a different color or a

Different combination of colors.
