Where will the treatment take place
The treatment will take place in a quiet and comfortable warm room, normally at a place indicated by the practitioner.
The lights will be dimmed to allow you to relax more easily. Soft music chosen by the practitioner will play in the background.
Most of the times the practitioner will burn some incense.
How will the treatment be given
Personally I give the treatment on a treatment table, but any flat surface which is comfortable will do, this again can vary per practitioner.
Some use beds, tables, even the floor, as long as it is comfortable it will do.
You will lie down on the treatment table fully clothed. It is advisable to wear clothing, which is pleasant to wear and you will be covered by a blanket to prevent
you from getting cold due to the total relaxation of your body.
Personally if the person I treat agrees, I cover the eyes with a paper handkerchief, this to prevent distraction and to stimulate relaxation .
What will happen
After you are comfortable, the practitioner will put his hands on several positions on your body, on the blanket.
Those positions include
eyes, ears, jaws, for head and the back of your head.
The throat area - The chest and heart - The tummy - The lower belly area - Between your shoulders - and the rest of your back - The bottom of your spine
This can vary per person who is receiving Reiki, the energy needed and the places for which it is needed can vary per person.
So this is more a rough guideline.
Most people experience the energy as a warm glow coming from the hands of the practitioner, while some people feel it like a cold flow of air, either way
the Reiki does what it needs to do.and in most cases the person on the table will drift of. It is my experience that the more relaxed someone is,
the more open they are to receiving the energy. When people are very tense it normally takes only a few minutes into the session for them to start to relax.
After about an average of 45 - 60 minutes the practitioner will end the treatment by a rubbing movement on your back.
And will give you time to fully waken up and have some water. It is important to drink (preferable a lot) water in the hours/days after the treatment.
This to support your body to detoxify (to clean) itself.
Again I want to mention that these are just guide lines and not rules !
What I believe to be very important is that you find a practitioner or teacher who you feel connected with. Don’t be afraid to leave when you arrive
for a session and the practitioner or the location don’t feel right to you, just don’t use that as an excuse not to go because you feel reluctant!
If you, for whatever reason are not able to make an appointment, be so polite to cancel as far ahead as possible.
The practitioner make times for you and keeps that time available for you, by cancelling on time you give the practitioner the change to rebook that time.
And last but not least ... every Reiki teacher and/or practitioner is more than happy to have a talk with you before you make an appointment.
All that is left now is for you to make an appointment and treat yourself!
